Bell's Theorem Reexamined

چکیده

An Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR)-like argument using events separated by a time-like interval strongly suggestes that measuring the polarization state of a photon of an entangled pair changes the polarization state of the other distant photon. Trough a very simple demonstration, the WignerD’Espagnat inequality is used to show that in order to prove Bell’s theorem neither the assumption that there is a well-defined space of complete states λ of the particle pair and well-defined probability distribution ρ(λ) over this space nor the use of counterfactuals is necessary. These results reinforce the viewpoint that quantum mechanics implicitly presupposes some sort of nonlocal connection between the particles of an entangled pair. As will become evident from our discussion, relinquishing realism and/or free will cannot solve this apparent puzzle.

Bell ’ s theorem in the presence of classical communication

I explain what kinds of correlation or even direct classical communication between detectors invalidate Bell's theorem, and what kinds do not. [1] of my simple demonstration [2] that their refutation [3] of an elementary version of Bell's theorem [4] cannot be correct. Rather than belabor misconceptions 1 in [3], I prefer to examine a question of more general interest. Let us turn Hess and Phil...

No time loophole in Bell's theorem: the Hess-Philipp model is nonlocal.

Hess and Philipp recently claimed [(2001) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 98, 14224-14227 and 14228-14233] that proofs of Bell's theorem have overlooked the possibility of time dependence in local hidden variables, hence the theorem has not been proven true. Moreover they present what is claimed to be a local realistic model of the EPR correlations. If this is true then Bell's theorem is not just un...
